Sticking doors, loose hardware, new deadbolts

SnapWork fixes the doors you use every day: doors that stick or won't latch, loose hinges, a knob and deadbolt you want replaced, a sliding patio door that drags, worn weatherstripping and sweeps, a split door frame, or a pet door to install. You buy new locks or a pet door; the pro brings standard parts for tune-ups. Rekeying and new doors are not part of it. We work across Napa County and Solano County.

What's included

  • Tightening or shimming hinges, planing a sticking edge and adjusting the latch
  • Replacing a knob or lever and deadbolt with new hardware that fits the existing holes
  • Cleaning and adjusting a sliding door and replacing worn rollers
  • Replacing weatherstripping and the sweep on an exterior door
  • Repairing a split door frame or jamb, or installing a pet door you bought

Not included

  • New doors, or hanging a door in a new frame
  • Rekeying, which is a locksmith job
  • Bent sliding door tracks and glass panels
  • Cutting a pet door into the door between the garage and the house

The usual fixes

Most door problems are small: a hinge screw that pulled loose, a door that swelled in winter, a strike plate that doesn't line up. The pro tightens, shims, planes and adjusts until the door closes smoothly.

New locks

Buy a knob or lever and deadbolt that fit the holes already in your door. Most standard sets do. The pro installs them and checks they lock smoothly.

Drafts under the door

Light or cold air under an exterior door means the sweep or weatherstrip is worn. Fresh weatherstripping stops drafts and noise. If the door itself sags, the hinges need adjusting first.

Questions people ask

How much does it cost to fix a sticking door?

Door work depends on what's wrong and how many doors, so we price it from your photo. You see the price before you book.

Can you rekey my locks?

No. Rekeying is a locksmith job. We can replace the knob and deadbolt with new ones that come with their own keys.

Why does my sliding door drag?

Usually worn rollers or a dirty track. The pro cleans the track, adjusts the door and replaces worn rollers.

Can you install a smart lock?

Yes. See smart home device install for what's included.
